Hi! I read ur article in http://www.linglish.net/2008/10/22/so-many-nationality-suffixes and it was son interesting but I noticed that we are called Philippine. Citizens/nationality of this country are called Filipinos (plural) or simply Filipino/Pilipino (singular and in general). However, when inflecting gender, females would be referred to as Filipina/Pilipina. Colloquially, people are called Pinoy (in general and for males or Pinay (females). Please revise so that others may also be enlightened! thanks much! 🙂
The word filipino/a comes from Spanish, a result of the Spanish colonization of the Philippines.
